KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s political advisor Devendra Poudel uttered on Monday that country’s economic status cannot get in a good health until feudalism is brought to an end.

Speaking at an interaction program entitled: ‘Global Economic Crisis and NRNs,’ organised by Socialist Movement Nepal in Reporter’s Club, PM’s advisor claimed that only with an end to feudalism we could bring about economic advancement in the country.

“Only through a new economic policy, along with plenty of discussions and debates with immediate neighbors, we could promote the growth of Nepal’s economy,” said Poudel.

The UCPN-Maoist leader also urged Non-Resident-Nepalese (NRNs) to bring investment inside the country as per the collective vision of building a New Nepal.

Speaking at the same program, Nepali Congress Central member Dr Ram Sharan Mahat made a claim that Nepal’s economic rate will not increase until debates over socialist economic ideologies are abundantly made.

“If there is no guarantee of industrial development, and commoner’s access to employments amid the increasing population rate inside the country, Nepal’s economic status will remain as it is,” opined the former finance minister.

While saying that socialism refers to the farthest development of capitalism, Upendra Mahato, Founder Chairman of NRN Association, said socialism should be defined properly and understood in the right way for the sake of economic development.

“Government should assure Middle-class businessmen and entrepreneurs of service and security for economic development,” said Mahato.
