KATHMANDU: A delegation of European Union in Nepal has called on Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, and urged him to create environment for the participation of all political parties in the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.
The meeting was held at the Office of the Prime Minister at Singha Durbar, today. After the meeting, Ambassador of EU and leader of the delegation, Dr. Alexander Spachis said that they urged the Chairman to create environment for free and fair elections as it was only the suitable means for democracy.
He said that some political parties have been saying that they would not take part in the election and that the election should be held soon by creating environment for their participation.
During the meeting, Ambassadors of EU countries informed that they were ready to cooperate with election related materials.
Ambassador Alexander said that he expressed commitment with Regmi that assistance provided by EU to Nepal will be continued and will provide additional support in the days ahead.
Ambassadors of Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, among others, were present on the occasion.
