The jailers had demanded to shift the Paliwal group from the jail at the earliest.

CHITWAN: The main accused in the abduction of the then executive director of the BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital Bharatpur, Dr. Bhaktaman Shrestha, Rohit Paliwal Agrawal and his group have been transferred to other jails after they started to threaten the Naike and other inmates of the District Jail.

Agrawal has been transferred to Rasuwa, Nawin Chhetri to Banke and Badri Prasad Dhungana and Sunil Shrestha to Bardiya, said District Jail Chief Tol Prasad Sharma Subedi. Agrawal was sent Tuesday and others this morning.

The group had been threatening Dr. Shrestha by using the phone of the jail and brawls had been increasing between them and other inmates and Naikes and that the District Jail had requested the department for their transfer.

Last week 65 Naike inmates had resigned en masse saying they were not able to carry out the works after a clash ensued between the prisoners.

The jailers had demanded to shift the Paliwal group from the jail at the earliest. Following their demand, Chief District Officer Ganesh Raj Karki and Superintendent of Police Bhupal Kumar Bhandari assured to shift the Paliwal group.

Paliwal was involved in the abduction of Dr Shrestha some two years ago. Dr Shrestha was released by offering 3 kg 600 grams of gold after 19 days.

Abductor Paliwal was brought to Bharatpur jail three months ago.

Other alleged on the charge Nabin Chhetri, Badri Dhungana and Sunil Shrestha are also in the same jail for investigation.

Bharatpur jailhouse has been taken seriously from security perspective after Shiva Paudel, chairman of Tarun Dal, was attacked by other prisoners in the jail.

The jail with a capacity of 110 is housing as many as 390 prisoners.
