Dr Govinda KC recovering

KATHMANDU: The health of Dr Govinda KC, who ended his hunger strike yesterday, is gradually improving, a doctor attending to the professor said today.
Dr KC, who is now in the Coronary Care Unit of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, ended his fast on the sixth day yesterday after the government appointed Dr Prakash Sayami as new dean of the Institute of Medicine (IoM).
Dr Prem Khadka, a doctor attending to KC, said he will be shifted to the general ward on Monday. He informed that KC was still suffering from low blood pressure and complained of chest pain.
Dr KC, who is a senior orthopaedist, had started the strike on Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital premises demanding that the government make appointments to key posts at IoM on the bases of merit and seniority.
