KATHMANDU: Avenues Television has reported on Saturday that alleged don Ganesh Lama, who has been indicted of money laundering, was arrested from Basantapur of the Capital on Saturday.
However, the officials at Nepal Police did not want to confirm the report.
DSP Chakra Bahadur Singh at the Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Hanumandhoka told THT Online that he did not have any information about Lama's arrest.
A central committee member of the Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic, Lama has been charged with accumulating property worth Rs 270.1 million through illegal means.
After the Money Laundering Investigation Department filed cases against them on May 19, the Special Court had issued a notice to Lama and four others—Parshuram Basnet, Chakre Milan, Deepak Manange and Abishekh Giri—to present themselves before it and defend the charges against them within 15 days.
One of the accused, Milan Gurung aka Chakre Milan is doing time in the central jail, while three others are still at large.
