KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Dispute Resolution Sub-committee has decided to go for the regular process on the disputed issues seen in course of constitution writing.
It has been agreed in the meeting of the sub-committee held this morning at Singha Durbar to go for voting on the disputed issues and also to seek consensus at the same time, said CA member from the UCPN-Maoist, Khimlal Devkota.
With this decision by the sub-committee, a situation has arisen wherein the contentious issues of the constitution writing would be settled by putting them to a vote in the full meeting of the Constituent Assembly if the parties failed to reach consensus on them.
The meeting of the Constitutional Committee has commenced following this decision by the sub-committee.
Earlier this morning the top leaders of the major three parties and the Speaker discussed the progress in constitution writing.
UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN-UML president Jhalanath Khanal, Nepali Congress vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel and Speaker Subas Nembang participated in the discussions in which the top leaders had briefed about the progress being made in constitution writing. Speaker Nembang had urged the top leaders to resolve the outstanding issues immediately citing lack of time.
