KHOTANG: Direct transport service has been started from Khotang to Kathmandu for the first time.
The service was started from today after bailey bridge was constructed in Dudhkoshi and Sunkoshi Rivers.
After start of the direct service, two passenger buses daily leave from the district headquarters Diktel, said chairman of the Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Bidur Luintel.
Luintel informed that vehicles leave at 5:00 am and 3:30 pm for Kathmandu and if necessary, buses can be sent at other times as well.
For this, Rs. 1,400 per head fare has been fixed, it said, and added it can be brought down if the regular service gets effective.
After direct service, one can travel to capital in less expense and time.With the direct service; passengers have got rid of changing means for transport frequently.
Earlier, they had to change vehicles in Jayaram Ghat of Khotang and Harkapur, Ghurmi and Katari of Udayapur district.
