BJHANG: Dashain has failed to bring smiles on the faces of economically backward Badi community in Bajhang district. The Badis can be seen wandering in the market looking at the goods on sale. But with empty pockets, they can only dream of going on a Dashain shopping spree. According to tradition, Badis visit local houses begging for pulses, rice and flour during Dashain and the New Year. Members of the community, who sing and dance for survival, said Dashain reminds them of their pitiful state. “We have not worn new clothes and eaten good food in Dashain for the past 34 years,” Harina Badi said.
