"The parties have agreed to strike a deal on the outstanding issues and promulgate the new constitution through the revival of the Constituent Assembly for a short period within a week"

KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and the top-notch leaders of the Nepali Congress have decided to go for polls unless consensus is forged among the parties on the outstanding constitutional issues within a week.

UCPN-M Chairman and the senior leaders of the Nepali Congress have decided to this effect at a meeting convened at the former’s residence in Lazimpat on Wednesday afternoon.

In a bid to forge consensus among the parties on the outstanding issues including the reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly, national unity government and the fresh elections, Chairman Dahal had called this meeting.

“The parties have agreed to strike a deal on the outstanding issues and promulgate the new constitution through the revival of the Constituent Assembly for a short period within a week. In order to forge consensus the three parties will hold meetings from tomorrow,” said Chairman Dahal’s aide Shiva Khakurel.

Senior leader of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel and General Secretary duo Krishana Prasad Sitaula and Prakash Man Singh were present in the meeting from the Nepali Congress while Chairman Dahal represented the UCPN-M.
