KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minster Krishna Sitaula tendered his resignation from Cabinet to Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala on Thursday morning.
Sitaula handed over his resignation to Koirala at the latter's residence in Maharajgunj.
Sitaula was leading the two-member NC team in the Maoist-led unity government and was one of the fourth deputy prime ministers.
Sitaula, who is also the general secretary of NC, resigned after the central committee members of his own party came down heavily on Sitaula for hobnobbing with the Maoists to extend the tenure of the CA.
Sitaula had registered the CA term extension bill as the law minister of the country.
