Crisis if budget not passed: Khanal

THT Online

TAMGHAS: CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal warned that the situation would become very critical if the budget of the current fiscal year was not passed in the House. Khanal arrived to inaugurate the district convention of UML Gulmi.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Press Union Gulmi chapter, Khanal said if the budget is not passed, the main impact will be felt by the main opposition party UCPN-Maoist. He added that the Maoists combatants lodged at cantonments would not receive food. He highlighted the need for the budget to be passed in the House. If an alternative method was sought, the UML would stand against it.

Commenting on the present political deadlock, Khanal said that the nation is going through a crucial juncture. He informed that the UML and Maoist meetings were positive in the past and the positive results would be seen by Sunday when he would return to Kathmandu. He added that the meeting of the top level leaders among the big three parties could not be held due to the poor health of Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala.

However, Khanal was of the view that the Maoists' demand to change the leadership of the government is baseless.
