KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the government preparation to award the Upper Trishuli-I licence to Nepal Water and Energy Development Company. A single bench of Justice Tahir Ali Ansari issued the order in the name of Prime Minister’s Office and Council of Ministers and Ministry of Water Resources asking them not to move ahead with the process. The apex court also asked the government authorities to submit their stances within 15 days on why they were making preparations to grant the licence of the hydropower project to NWEDC.
