KATHMANDU: Some top central leaders including Purna Bahadur Khadka and Chandra Bhandari today told the CWC meeting that the promulgation of new constitution was impossible until Nepal could take the international superpowers including India, China and the United States into confidence through diplomatic level.

“Nepal is located in strategic location for Delhi, Beijing and Washington. The international superpowers have their own national interests such as their national security and power balance. As the level of their trust towards us is gradually deteriorating, they fear over whether the Nepal’s new constitution would harm their interest. So, the promulgation of the new constitution will be a far cry until we could take them into confidence,” said Khadka at the meeting according to sources.

Khadka and Bhandari suggested that Nepali Congress should first come up with position paper on Nepal’s national interests and should then hold high level of diplomatic talks with the superpowers to ensure that the Nepal’s new constitution would protect their national interests.
