Cop hangs self in Gokarna

KATHMANDU: A police official committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near Indrayani Temple in Gokarna on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as DSP Basanta Thapa (39) who had been working at Armed Police Force Battalion No. 1 under the Nepal Police in Maharajgunj.
Late DSP Thapa left the house at 5pm yesterday telling his family members that he was leaving the house for good, his kin told the investigation officials, adding when they went in search of him after his departure, they found him dangling from a tree near Indrayani Temple in Gokarna jungle at 10:45 pm yesterday.
Police also recovered a suicide note near the incident site.
DSP seems to have apparently committed suicide over family dispute.
His body has been taken to TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj for postmortem.
Earlier DSP Kanchan Thapa had also committed suicide by shooting himself dead.
