PHIDIM: Locals of Phidim have been facing shortage of cooking gas during the festival.
As many as 40,000 cooking gas cylinders are consumed in Phidim per month. Consumers said that the dealers provided them with limited cylinders as the festival approached.
Prakash Singh, chief of Prima Gas Depot, said that sufficient number of gas cylinders were not supplied for the last two months, which had created the crisis. “We have managed everything such as meat, rice and other necessary materials to celebrate Dashain,” said a home-maker Sabitra Limbu, of Phidim, adding, “But we do not have cooking gas.”
Narendra Adhikari, of Koshi Gas trader, said that the dealers have not sent the gas to the concerned local dealers although they had deposited the amount.
The customers have accused the local administration of ignoring their situation although they informed the authority about it one month ago.
Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Pradip Raj Kandel said that he had already coordinated with CDOs of Morang and Sunsari along with the Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies. He assured that the gas cylinders will be supplied during the festivals.
