BIRATNAGAR: The first national conference of Khas Ekata Samaj began in Birtnagar today.
The conference will select a new central committee and approve different proposals after holding discussion, said organizer.
Representatives from 38 districts and town committees are present in the conference.
Inaugurating the conference, chairman of Samaj, Yubraj Karki, said the movement of Khas Chhetri will continue as their struggle was for guaranteeing ethnic rights and existence of identity.
On the occasion, lawmaker Abhishek Pratap Shah expressed confidence to raise the issues of Khas Chhetri's rights in the Legislature-Parliament.
Sociologist Bal Krishna Mabuhang, R K Khumbu of Khumbuwan Mukti Morcha and chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Morang, Janak Karki said the constitution will be unacceptable to indigenous communities if it was promulgated by bypassing their social and cultural diversities.
