KAWASOTI: People of the northern hilly part in Nawalparasi and eastern part in Palpa have been hard hit as vehicular movement on Kaligandaki corridor remained close during the Dashain festival.
The corridor was blocked due to landslides during the rains. The landslide is yet to be cleared off. Although, the locals repaired some 78 kilometers of the damaged segment on their own efforts, the Gaindakot to Rampur section (Palpa) is yet to be reopened, said a local Koshraj Poudel of Bulingtar.
The locals have complained that though the construction of the corridor was started at the initiative of the then local development ministry some nineteen years ago, the task has not been completed yet. Due to this, they are compelled to use an alternative route from Bhimad in Tanahun and Daldale-Bulingtaar route for going home during the Dashain that makes their travel lengthy and costlier.
Locals of Kotthor, Dandajheri, Bulingtar, Arkhala, Bharatipur, Jauwari, Mithukram, Dedhgaun, Rakuwa in Nawalparasi and Wakamlang and Darchha in Palpa have been affected due to the disruption of vehicular movement on the corridor, it is learnt.
