KATHMANDU: Church Boys United hammered Sakela Sports Club 9-0 in the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull ‘C’ Division Qualifying League here on Sunday. Milan Gurung scored four goals alone for Church Boys and Lal Bahadur Lawati netted a brace. Susan Rai, Santosh Shrestha and Jiten Karki also added one each. In another match, Bijaya Thapa struck a decider to give Amar Singh Adarsha Club a 1-0 victory over Iti Youth Club. Also, Dholahiti Youth Club edged Mirmire Youth Club 2-1. Som Lama and Anup Bista scored for the winning side, while Anil Gurung replied for Mirmire.

No Special Games

KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council (NSC) on Sunday decided to postpone the Special Games of the differently-abled group for this year. According to a release issued by NSC, Ram Krishna Baniya, a coordinator of the Games committee and member in the sports’ governing body, informed that the event was postponed for indefinite period due to special reasons. The NSC had previously decided to host the Games from May 14 to 18.

Festival of Football

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Sunday selected 22 players for the football games to be played under the AFC U-14 Boys Festival of Football which began here from May 10. The selected players were Prabin Shrestha, Ajaya Shrestha, Sudan Thapa, Sagar Pariyar, Ranjan Thapa, Gaurav Budhathoki, Bikash Lama, Sugam Shrestha, Lalit Thapa, Bimal Gharti Magar, Hemant Thapa, Kiran Sunar, Sajan Magar, Nishant Dhungana, Ram Chandra Waji, Parbat Subba, Sunil Bal, Suman Parajuli, Shiva Subedi, Sanjog Rai, Anant Tamang, Ujjwol Chemjong. Nepal will compete against the teams from India, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the football events that will begin from May 19.
