JHAPA: The cardamom price has reached Rs 65,000 per maund this year.
According to the Federation of Nepal Cardamom Entrepreneurs, the price of cardamom was fixed Rs 65,000 per maund (40 kg) in the local market today.
Vice-chairman of the Federation Nirmal Bhattarai said the price reached to the optimum point this year. Earlier, the cardamom was traded at Rs 72,000, the record high price in the local market.
Cardamom is cultivated mostly at the eastern hilly districts along with Gorkha, Lamjung and other districts in the western region.
Ilam, Panchthar, Taplejung, Terathum, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasawa, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, and Solukhumbu districts in the east are considered the pocket area for cardamom cultivation.
