CHITWAN: CPN-Maoist Secretary Netra Bikram Chand today said that they were ready to take up weapons if the situation so demands.
Speaking at a press meet in Chitwan to inform about the party’s decision to close the National Public Volunteer Centre, he said, “Our party works peacefully and guns are also used for peace.” He was of the opinion that if guns used by the state were for peace then one should not consider people taking up guns negatively.
Chand, also the in-charge of the National Public Volunteer Centre, said that the centre would work for the service and security of the people. He said that implementation of effective programmes to end corruption, black marketing, girls trafficking and robbery have been approved by the meeting.
When asked about party’s unity with the Nepali Congress and UML against government, he claimed that Congress and UML supported their proposal. “When we were same we at first protested against Bab-uram-led government, later they also supported us.”
Former People Liberation Army’s commander Uday Bahadur Chalaune said the meeting welcomed the formation of new party as Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Baburam Bhattarai had forsaken revolutionary principles. People have to our proposal positively, he said.
Similarly, the decision to hold the centre’s national conference on September 22, 23 and 24 was also taken in the meeting.
