KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police has started monitoring the activities of inmates in the jails of the Kathmandu Valley through Close-Circuit Cameras. According to a press statement issued on Monday, the Central Investigation Bureau will keep record of activities of jail inmates and their visitors. The move follows incidents of inmates using jails for criminal activities even after their release. CIB already has a database of all the 1,298 doing time in jails and their 2,143 visitors. A total of 16 CCTVs have been fitted in three jails in the Capital city. CIB can store CCTV data for up to a month, the press release added.
