KATHMANDU: Ten Constituent Assembly (CA) members have pledged to fight poverty and work to put an end to inequality and guaranteeing accountability, governance based on justice, and equality and human rights.
At a program organised as part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) campaign in the capital, they also called upon the sides concerned to work towards meeting the goals by 2015.
Referring to the upcoming UN Summit to review the status of MDGs in New York, they pointed out the need for strong will power among the world leaders to help poor countries meet the goal.
Those making the pledge on the occasion were CA members Gagan Thapa, Rabindra Adhikari, Bishnu Maya Biswakarma, Barshaman Pun, Sita Gurung, Rajendra Khetan, Rajkaji Maharjan, Gayatri Shaha, Abhishek Prasad Shaha and Nabodita Chaudhary.
At the program, singers Kunti Moktan, Nima Rumba, Sugam Pokharel and the Kutumba Band presented songs.
