KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Tuesday rounded up five members of a burglary racket from Balaju. The arrestees are Shiva Bahadur Tamang (19), Pradeep Tamang (21), Jeevan Tamang (18), Jeet Bahadur Tamang (22) and Raj Kumar Tamang (18) of Nuwakot. They had robbed cash and valuables worth Rs 3,00,000 from the house of Radhika Pradhan in Balaju on Monday. Three tolas of gold ornaments, a laptop, Rs 1,032 cash, mobile phone sets and wrist watches have been recovered from their possession.
11 tola gold stolen
KATHMANDUL: An unidentified gang broke into the house of Samjhana Shrestha in Shankhamul and reportedly decamped with gold ornaments weighing 11 tolas on Monday. According to a complaint lodged with police, the house was unattended when the incident occurred at the daytime. Police said a manhunt has been launched to nab the suspects. —
Tension in hospital
KATHMANDU: Tension flared up on the premises of Maternity Hospital in Thapathali after Tara Kumari Sharma (28) of Solukhumbu died, while giving birth, on Tuesday. Health of the newborn is said to be normal. Kin of the deceased staged protest alleging that doctors and nurses’ negligence led to Sharma’s death, police said. However, vandalism was not reported after police intervened in and facilitated talks to resolve the dispute.
Woman arrested
KATHMANDU: Police on Tuesday arrested Rama KC of Kavre Banasthali for attacking her neighbour, Bhagwati Neupane, with a sharp weapon. Police said KC had attacked her in a fit of rage over land ownership. Neupane, who had suffered head injury, is receiving treatment at Kathmandu Model Hospital. Police said an investigation into the incident was under way. —
Minor killed
KATHMANDU: Five-year-old Ashika Rumba of Chandranigahapur, Rautahat, who was crossing the road, died after being hit by a motorcycle (Ba 35 Pa 7856) around 6:00am on Tuesday in Jorpati. Police have arrested the biker.
