KATHMANDU: A mass gathering was organised at the open theatre Tundikhel on Saturday, calling for the implementation of the recent agreement to recognize the government and the Brahaman ,Cheetri, Dasnami and Dalit communities as the indigenous people.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Joint Struggle Committee for National Integrity and Communal Harmony, representatives from different organizations warned that they would picket the CA building if the agreement was not enforced at the earliest.
They urged the political parties and the CA member not to run after the ethnicity-based states as it would jeopardize the national harmony in the country.
The government recently agreed to list Brahmans, Chettris, Dasnamis and the Dalits as the Khas Arya- Indigenous instead of the 'other castes' as decided earlier.
Committee coordinator and Chairman of Chhetri Society Nepal Pro Dr Dil Bahadur Chhetri claimed that the 'Marxist' leaders were trying to take the country towards disintegration.
Chairman of Brahaman Society Narayan Prasad Adhikari, Chairman of Dalit Awareness Service Association Dal Bahadur Sunar, Nepal Dasnami Society's Chairman Rabindra Giri and Dr Nanda Bahadur Singh stressed on the need of keeping communal harmony intact in the country.
