KATHMANDU: The three major parties agreed on Sunday to resume the political talks in order to initiate the process for consensus-building, UCPN-Maoist Vice Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha said.
The senior leaders of UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML had taken part in the meeting of Special Committee (for supervision‚ integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants) at the SC secretariat in Kathmandu this evening.
Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, who is the ex-officio chairman of the army integration panel, h ad called the meeting.
“Today, we discussed where the problems are. This is a positive thing,” said the deputy prime minister, who also took part in the meeting.
“Earlier there were some informal talks (among the parties) but there were no formal talks. And, we have agreed to end the blame game, and start the formal talks from tomorrow in order to build the national consensus. There is no alternative for this,” he told the media.
According to him, the meeting discussed the issues related to the army integration also.
“Some problems arose in the implementation (of past decisions regarding army integration). We agreed to sort them out through talks.”
