PARSA: Controvery-marred State Minster for Agriculture and Co-operatives Karima Begum Monday has skipped her home district visit of Parsa to celebrate this year’s Bakr Eid due to arrest fears.
It is said that she was due to arrive in Parsa for the festival. She however decided against coming here, after the district administration made its intent clear that she, upon her arrival in the district, would be apprehended for assaulting former Parsa CDO Durga Prasad Bhandari.
On November 10, minister Begum had slapped Bhandari in the face, who was on duty, for allegedly sending an old vehicle to pick her up from the Simara Airport.
Parsa police had then issued arrest warrant against her for the offence.
Meanwhile, the government offices, which were shut for several days protesting the physical attack on CDO Bhandari, resumed dispensing services on Monday.
The agitating civil servants have agreed to return to work after the local civil society members assured them of pressuring the government to bring the ‘errant’ minister to book.
