Bandh to foil ex-king's Syangja visit called off

SYANGJA: The UCPN-M has called off the half-day bandh which they had planned to enforce on Sunday to thwart ex-king Gyanendra Shah’s religious tour in the district.
Different sister organizations of the UCPN-M operating in Syangja called off the bandh discovering that the ousted king will visit Dhaneshwor Mahadev temple in Putalibazaar only in the afternoon.
The bandh was called from 6 am to 12 noon and the former king Shah will drive to Syangja after 2 pm.
Though Shah has termed his visit as ‘ purely religious’ , UCPN-M reckons it as the Shah’s endeavor to become politically active in the veil of religion.
