KATHMANDU: “Prior to the release of the film‚ I was excited. When we got letters to ban the movie Badhshala‚ I was shocked and upset. People told me the film was receiving the hype‚” mentioned director Manoj Pandit about his film Badhshala on April 3 at a press meet held at Union House‚ Anamnagar.
He continued‚ “But I didn’t want that hype for my film. All I wanted was for the audience to watch the movie and discuss it.”
Now‚ Badhshala is on the way to the theatres as the ban has been lifted and the vision of the director will come true. This news was catered at the meet where the actors of the movie and the producer were present. Along with happy news‚ bitter moments were shared too at the event.
Mohan Dotel‚ producer of the film shared‚ “Last two months were tough but we had faith that this day would come. We were communicating with the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Information and Communication on a daily basis. We could go on strikes and get help from political parties‚ but we didn’t want to politicise the film. However‚ censor board and Ministry of Defence were flexible regarding the film.”
After all the troubles‚ Badhshala will be screened on April 19 without compromising the creativity of the film.
Pandit mentioned‚ “The elements of certain characters are missing in the movie as compared to the one we had made earlier without compromising the narration of the story that we wanted to share. I am not so disappointed with the censorship though.”
With problems solved‚ the director leaves up to the audience to discuss the film.
