Baidhya opposes election govt

KATHMANDU: Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Baidhya today said his party will oppose all decisions including the formation of election government taken by four parties.

Addressing the tea reception organised at Bhrikuti Mandap to mark the 18th people’s war day, Baidhya said, “Four parties alone cannot give a way out to the nation’s impending crisis. We will strongly oppose their decisions, come what may.” He went on to say that the decision to raise weapons would depend on whether the parties want to solve the problems of the people or not.

Baidhya termed the ongoing efforts of the four ‘failed’ forces for forging consensus as futile claiming that the new constitution was impossible unless the parties admit their mistakes and seek self-criticism. He accused the leaders of Unified CPN-Maoist of betraying both the party and people.

“We fought for people’s liberation, but a gang of revisionists betrayed us and therefore we parted,” he said, adding, the UCPN-M’s recent convention has proved the significance of party split. “They took a quantum leap in the opposite direction and we took similar leap in the right direction,” he said. He termed the UCPN-M leaders as ‘traitors’.

Accusing the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and some leaders who threatened to tear the 12-point agreement and Comprehensive Peace Accord, he said they would find it difficult to step into even villages if they tried to revive the war-era cases like the one in Dailekh.

“Everything will turn upside down,” he warned, claiming that his party will never let the dream of the NC and UML come true.
