KATHMANDU: Nepal Fine Art Association has organised Art Fair-2012 in the capital from on Sunday.
According to Chairman of the Association, Rajendra Maharjan, the fair was organised with the purpose of developing and conserving the Nepali original arts and culture.
Inaugurating the Fair, senior artist Kalidas Shrestha expressed the view that dignity of the country would increase if artists could develop arts by carrying out study and research with excitement.
Similarly, Chairman of the Nepal Commercial Artists' Association IB Malla said the government should respect artists who are living under financial crisis.
Likewise, Vice-chairman of Federation of Handicrafts, Dharmaraj Shakya said Nepal is rich in arts from the ancient period but ancient skills are on the verge of extension due to lack of preservation.
There will be exhibition and competition on painting, sculpture, dance, literature, acting, among others in the fair. The fair will conclude on May 7.
