HETAUNDA: Transport entrepreneurs are seeking an alternative road to the alternative highway linking Kathmandu to the central Terai. The highway passes through Hetaunda, Kulekhani, Sisneri and Pharping.
An alternate to this highway is being sought after the increase in the traffic on this alternative highway. This highway is the shortest road linking the capital, Kathmandu to the central Terai after it came into operation some five years back.
President of the Narayani Zonal Transport Entrepreneurs’ Association, Hiralal Shrestha said, the alternative to this road is being mooted after the increase in the number of accidents due to the increased traffic along the highway in the recent years.
Preparations are also being made to dig a two kilometers long tunnel on the Bhimphedi-Kulekhani Phedi section of this highway as the highway on this stretch is said to be risky and prone to accidents.
