KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist aligned All Nepal Teachers’ Organisation (ANTO) today said it will launch an agitation against those schools which are not registered in Nepal and are teaching curriculum that is unauthorised without permission from the government.
“The protest will mainly target 14 schools in the Valley, including DAV Sushil Kedia School in Lalitpur, which are teaching unauthorised curriculum,” said Guna Raj Lohani, president, ANTO.
The organisation plans to launch protest against schools and the government with professional and academic demands in a few days.
ANTO alleged that many private schools were teaching academic curriculum that could affect nationalism and provide wrong information to school kids.
Lohani said that after protests lasting for months, DAV school had finally decided to reinstate 21 teachers including Rajendra Manandhar, Sagar Thapa and Santosh Jha. The school has also agreed to provide salary and facilities for the period in which they were dismissed, he added.
The sacked teachers had been staging various protest programme for the last few months.
A second full meeting of ANTO had also decided to protest against privatisation and commercialisation of the education sector and for implementation of agreements reached between teachers and the education ministry.
