KATHMANDU: Association of Nepali Indigenous Nationalities Journalists (ANIJ) has condemned the threat issued to Sita Mademba, its Sunsari district secretary by Maoists for not giving them donation.
Mademba, also Dharan correspondent of BBC Nepali Service, received a telephonic threat from local Maoist leaders Dipesh Shrestha and Ajit Rai after she refused to give Rs 50,000. Issuing a press statement here today, ANIJ President Mohan Singh Lama said the Maoist leaders had demanded donation from
the Drinking Water Consumers
Committee with which Mademba is affiliated.
Local Maoist leaders had also warned Mademba not to write twisted news about their donation drive.
ANIJ has demanded action against local Maoist leaders and urged the government to provide security to Mademba.
