8‚500 Nawalparasi youths go on foreign employment annually

KAWASOTI: Over 8,500 youths go abroad in search of job from Nawalparasi district annually.

Records show that mostly youths who have not passed the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations go on foreign employment to nine countries including the Gulf countries, said Mohan Gyawali, the Programme Officer at the Nawalparasi District Development Committee (DDC).

Gyawali said that the DDC is formulating plans for running self-employment programmes in the district to prevent the exodus of youths from the district.

Nawalparasi is ranked sixth among the districts of the country in terms of the number of people going on foreign employment.

One hundred and sixty-two women also go for foreign employment from the district annually.
