KATHMANDU: A strong tremor rocked the eastern Nepal and the Capital Valley Sunday evening, sending panic stricken people running outdoors.
The National Seismologic Centre (NSC) in Kathmandu said that the quake was measured 6.8 on the Richter scale with its epicentre in the border region of Taplejung of Nepal and Sikkim of India.
The quake occurred around 6.25 pm and lasted for 30 seconds, an official at the NSC told THT Online.
People have claimed that the tremor was felt in Pokhara and as far as Dang and Nepalgunj of western Nepal.
It has been learnt that some houses have been destroyed in the eastern hilly districts. No casualty has been reported yet.
Traffic on the roads came to a standstill briefly as terrified residents and office goers poured out into the streets. Mobile networks were jammed as anxious people frantically tried to call their loved ones.

It has been reported that three persons have been injured as the wall of the British Embassy to Nepal crumbled in Lainchaur. One person broke his leg in Boudhha while jumping to ground from a house.

The earthquake created terror in the Legislature-Parliament also. The Speaker adjourned the House session for 15 minutes.
The injured were rushed to Manmohan Memorial hospital in Lainchaur, However, they breathed their last during the course of the treatment. They are identified as Sajan Shrestha (36) and Anita Shrestha (8) and Bir Bahadur Majhi.
The deceased have been identified as Santos Pariyar (22) and Bimal Pariyar(5) were killed in Dharan, Sunsari.

Reports have been confirmed that Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Hetauda also witnessed the earthquake. However, No any physical or Human damage or injuries were observed. One individual was hit by a motorbike as he tries to cross over the road being terrorized by the quake. Abinash Parajuli, kathmandu
