5-star hotel to be built in Lumbini

KATHMANDU: People’s Republic of China has decided to construct a five-star hotel in Lumbini and invest billions for the development of the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha.

According to the authorities, China will invest heavily for the overall development of Lumbini and implementation of Lumbini Master Plan. Jal Krishna Shrestha, spokesperson for Ministry of Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary System and Culture, said China would invest Rs 8 billion for Lumbini. Shrestha added that the government had given its consent for the same.

According to Shrestha, China will construct a five-star hotel in Lumbini to provide advanced facilities for the visitors and tourists.

Shrestha said, “Nepal government has agreed that China

can make hotels there by purchasing the necessary land or they can take private land on lease. The proposed five-star hotel will mainly target Chinese tourists in Nepal.”

China will also set up a sacred garden in Lumbini.

Apart from that, China will build a giant sculpture of Lord Buddha, the tallest in the world. A library, a research centre and several museums are other facilities the Chinese government will build in Lumbini. Shrestha said, “However, Chinese side is yet to provide all the necessary documents, but the government has already given its nod.”

This news, if materialized, would definitely benefit us and increase the arrivals of tourists not only of China but also from different parts of the world. This will attract people from other religion to see the birthplace of Lord Buddha. At present even the domestic travelers are curios to visit here so there is no question bout the arrival of foreign tourist. Whatever the ranking may be tourism is one of the best and long-lasting economic sectors to increase national income for this nation and as a result many people will get employment opportunity. Mainly the surroundings of Lumbini will be developed due to the flow of tourist from different parts of the world and will change the overall scenario of the region.
