5 killed‚ 15 injured in Sindhupalchowk bus mishap

KATHMANDU: At least five persons were killed and 15 others have been seriously injured when an ill-fated bus (Ba 2 Kha 3327) bound for Totopani from Kathmandu veered off the road and fell some 10 metres down into the Sunkhosi River at Fulting Danda in Sindhupalchowk district at 10:30 am on Thursday.
Of the killed, three died on the spot and two breathed their last on the way to the hospital while15 passengers have been taken to the Sadabahar Haopital in Khandichaur, said police.
The deceased have been identified as two children, one woman and two men. The bus is sinking in the river. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force with the help of locals are carrying out the rescue task.
According to police, a crane is said to be being brought from Kathmandu to jack up the sunken bus from the river. Other few passengers are still feared to be disappearing in the river, said our Kavre-based reporter.
