5 killed, 3 injured in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR: Five workers were killed while three others were injured when a sandmine at Sarashawati Khel, Dudakot VDC in Bhaktapur near Nepal Engineering College collapsed on Wednesday morning. According to the police the deceased have been identified as Chanchali Maya Thing (Kavre), Baba Sherpa (Ramechhap), Rohit Kumar Ghimire aka Sunakhari Ghimire (Dolakha), Krishna Prasad Phuyal (Dolakha) and Phurba Tamang (Ramechhap). The three injured are undergoing treatment in Bhaktapur Hospital. The rescue operations have been launched by Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and locals and authorities suspect that the death toll may rise further as there were around 25 workers who were working in the mine when incident occurred.
