4 killed in separate bus mishaps

BUTUWAL: Four persons were killed and four others were injured in different bus mishaps on Tuesday morning in Rupandehi and Bara.

A passenger bus (Na 2 kha 7917) heading to Kathmandu form Pokhara met with an accident in Ghodahama, Devhut VDC, Rupandehi, killing three and injuring four others.

The deceased have been identified as Sunmaya Lama, 34, and her daughter Susma Lama, 8, residents of Bidama VDC, Lamjung. The bus conductor was also killed but his name and address are yet to be established.

According to the police the driver fell asleep at the wheel leading to the accident. He is absconding after the accident. They further added that the injured are undergoing treatment at Lumbini Regional Hospital

Meanwhile, a pedestrian was killed when a bus hit him in Nizghad, Bara. The bus (Na 2 Kha 2611) was heading eastwards from Kathmandu when the incident occured.

The deceased has been identified as Bhawanath Chaulagain, a local resident of Nizghad.

Following the incident relatives and neighbours of the deceased, demanding compensation obstructed the East-West Highway. However the road was opened at 7 am.
