KATHMANDU: At least two dozen people including six policemen have been injured when a clash ensued at District Administration Office (DAO) in Inaruwa, Sunsari on Wednesday. The clash erupted when the Maoist cadres tried to get inside the DAO premises by breaking the entry gate. The police fired four tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
Similar clashes broke out between the agitators and the police in different parts of the country. It is reported that clashes occurred in Bidur, Newakot and Charikot, Dolakha.
The cadres of agitating Maoists picketed the DAOs nationwide as a part of their second phase of agitation this morning demanding the restoration of civilian supremacy and reversal of the move of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to reinstate the then Army Chief Rookmangud Katawal. The regular activities of all the DAOs have been disrupted due to the Maoist protest.
