KATHMANDU: Police said on Monday that a sleuth deployed from Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has rounded up two smugglers with red panda hide.
The arrestees, identified as Man Bahadur Tamang (26) of Yarsa-9, Rasuwa and Bijaya Lama (25) of Urleni-5, Nuwakot were arrested in possession of two pieces of red panda skin.
Police said the arrestees reportedly attacked the police team before they were rounded up leaving some police personnel hurt.
Later they have been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Circle for the legal action on the charge of attacking security personnel.
Only after that they would be handed over to the District Forest Office Kathmandu to take action against their connection in the trade of conserved species, police said.
Red panda is enlisted in protected wildlife list and its killing and sale of its parts are banned in Nepal.
