Seventeen dogs have surfed their way into the Guinness World Records book. The talented team smashed the world record for most dogs on a surf board. The record attempt was made at a beach in San Diego as part of a dog surfing competition. Lots of surfing dogs took part in the all day contest which included competitions for longest surf, surf fashion and originality. More than 50 dog surfers from around America attended the event at Loews Coronado Bay Resort.
Olympic medals locked in Tower of London
The medals that will be awarded to winners at the Olympic Games are under guard at the Tower of London. The medals were handed over on July 2 by Rio Tinto, the mining company responsible for the production of the precious metals for the London 2012 Games. Now the gold, silver and bronze medals are securely locked away in the famous vaults at the Tower of London. They will remain there until they are needed for the victory ceremonies. The vaults are well-known for storing the crown jewels. Altogether, 4,700 medals have been produced and will be awarded in the 805 victory ceremonies.
Frog wedding held for rain
Farmers from Machhi in Gujarat’s Rajpipla, India have held a wedding for two frogs in the hope of making it rain. The Hindu frog wedding ceremony was conducted by a Hindu priest. The area has been suffering from a drought so it was hoped that the wedding would please the Rain Gods who would then send rain. Wedding songs were sang and the frogs were decorated with flowers and pink paint was dabbed on the female frog’s head. After the wedding both frogs were released into the river.
