KATHMANDU: A week-long Breast Feeding Day is going to be marked this year also, by organising various programmes.
The World Breast Feeding Day is going to be celebrated from August 1 -7. According to Director at the Department of Health Services, Child Health Division, Dr. Shyamraj Upreti, the Day is going to be celebrated to aware public about the importance of breast feeding, to make aware about problems and to increase the number of breast feeding women.
Upreti said that mother should feed first yellow milk within one hour after their birth of their child as there are all nutritious elements needed to a child.
There is less possibility of breast and uterus cancer to the mother if she breastfeeds the baby, according to the Child Health Division.
