KATHMANDU: Vice President Parmananda Jha has said blood donation is a must to save human life.


Addressing the 500th blood donation programme organised by Pashupati Marbadi Service Committee here on Saturday, Vice-president Jha stressed the need to increase the level of public awareness for blood donation as human being is the only source of different groups of blood used in human body.


The youth circle should take the message to the grassroots level that any healthy person could donate blood to contribute to avert blood shortage, he further said.


Chairman of the Committee, Suvash Goyal, said the challenge in human treatment was added when people remained indifferent to such sensitive problems.


Some 90 pints of blood were collected during the programme. It is learnt that the committee has so far collected 19,200 pints of blood since 2064 BS.


Various personalities and organisations who contributed significantly in its campaign of collecting blood for human life were honored at the programme.
