KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has blamed Prime Minster Dr Baburam Bhattarai of disturbing the environment of national consensus by exercising "egotistical and arrogant nature".
“The self-centered and egotistical forces are solely responsible for this present crisis,” said the former Prime Minister Khanal during his meeting with a group of representatives from Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Sunday.
Khanal, who was replaced by Bhattarai last year, desired PM Bhattarai to leave Baluwatar in order to pave the way for consensus, for the country is reeling under a political and constitutional crisis in the wake of the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA) on May 27.
National consensus is inevitable for the full fledged budget, Khanal said to the delegates of FNCCI, who consulted Khanal over the budget fiasco.
Khanal also said that his party will wait incumbent Baburam Bhattarai administration to respond, till mid-July.
While oppositions including CPN-UML have been depicting Dr Bhattarai as an obstacle to consensus politics, PM Bhattarai has been saying that he would never be a stumbling block to consensus politics.
According to the premier, he is not against consensus but his resignation at this state of affairs would invite further chaos as there are not constitutional and legal provisions to replace him.
