DHANGADHI: Around 200 households in Sri-Lanka village of Geta VDC in Kailali district were submerged after the swollen Mohana River gushed into the village all of a sudden last night.
The river entered into the village after its barrage caved-in due to incessant rains in the Chure region.
The entire village has been completely inundated following the entry of flooded river there, said Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force Madhu Krishna Gartaula.
The APF team has rescued elderly people and children from the village who were left stranded due to the flood.
Although no human casualty has been reported in the flooding, property worth millions of rupees has been damaged. Meanwhile, the Nepal Red Cross Society has distributed relief assistance to the flood- affected people.
