POKHARA: Two aircraft of Tara Airlines - one bound for Nepalgunj from Juphal of Dolpa district and the other Pokhara from Jomsom of Mustang district - escaped accident on Friday morning.
A Dornier aircraft of Tara Airlines got its tyre punctured while it was landing at Pokhara Airport on Friday morning. It had flown from Jomsom of Mustang district.
The incident took place after its rear tyre got punctured while it was landing at the Pokhara-based airport, informed Pokhara Airport office. All the passengers on board are safe, said Western Division Police Chief DIG Rajendra Singh Bhandari. No damage has been reported except the puncture in the rear tyre of the plane. The plane was pulled in with the help of Nepali Army and Nepal Police.
Flight services, which were temporally halted after the incident at Pokhara Airport, have now resumed.
Similarly Tara Air (9N-ABQ) bound to Nepalgunj from Dopla has also hit a snag after its left wing hit against the rocky terrain of the airport while it was about to take off. The left wing of the plane has been slightly damaged owing to the incident. There were seven people on board including five crew members. All of them are safe, informed Senior Manager Binaya Shakya of Tara Airlines.
The plane skidded around 50 metres off the runway after the incident, leaving the the left wing, left engine and left rear wheel damaged according to Nepalgunj Civil Aviation Office.
