KATHMANDU: The road expansion drive is continued across the Kathmandu Valley.
In this connection, the huts and houses built by encroaching upon the roads have been demolished from Subidhanagar to Parisdanda, Kathmandu Saturday.
Police Inspector Shiva Pokhrel informed that 60-70 huts and house compounds were demolished as they were constructed by encroaching upon the road.
Three dozers and two tippers were used to carry out the expansion drive in the area. The expansion begun this morning would continue till evening, Inspector Pokhrel said, adding that the infrastructures on road would be dismantled up to the Munibhairav Temple in this section.
The extension drive is carried out with the participation of the Kathmandu Metropolis, locals, Road Department, Traffic Police and local associations.
The government has continued the road expansion drive, considering the crowded traffic and narrow roads in the Valley.
