LALITPUR: ‘Pahichan’ – a radio programme on air by Ujyalo 90 Network everyday – has been helpful in identifying the problems of homosexuals and transgender populations and openly bring their issues to light in society, said various speakers.
At a programme organised by the Blue Diamond Society here on Saturday to review the radio programme production and airing, it was informed that some 80 radio programme showcasing the problems and realities facing the homosexuals and transgender people have been so far transmitted through the network.
It may be noted that members belonging to homosexuals and transgender community conducts an hour-long radio programme through Ujyalo Network everyday.
Among the programme presenters from this community are Pinki Gurung, Bhumika Shrestha, Sushila Lama, Swastika, Bhakti Shah, Bishnu Adhikari and Durga Thapa. Society Executive Director Sunil Babu Panta has also been presenting the programme ‘Pahichan’ from Nepal Television on every Saturday.
He said that the programme was initiated to present the latent talent of the community of homosexuals and transgender and inform their status of rights and entitlements.
Network Board Member Manteswori Rajbhandari said social outlook to this community has changed over the time.
Network Editor Sunil Neupane urged the sexual minority groups to knock the door of authorities concerned to have their rights established.
