LALITPUR: The Department of Livestock Services has said that farmers would get compensation amount of chicken killed due to bird flu as per the market price.
At an interaction held between the farmers, struggling farmers for the compensation of chickens killed due to bird flu, here on Sunday, Director General of the Department, Dr. Nar Bahadur Rajawar, said that the Department has sent suggestions to the Ministry of Agriculture Development to prepared an action plan for the rehabilitation of farmers to business, to provide compensation of the killed chicken as per the market price, waiving loans taken from banks by farmers, among others.
The programme was organised by Asta Ja Nepal, an NGO. On the occasion, Dr. Rajwar said that the Department compared that the losses made by the bird flu was equal to the losses made by the floods in Darchula two months ago.
Chairman of the Bird Flu Victim Farmers' Struggle Committee, Krishna Ram Magarati, Vice-Chairman of the Nepal Poultry Farmers Federation, Rajan Hari Khatri, Chairman of the Hatchery Entrepreneurs' Association, Shiva Prasad Sharma and farmer Ganesh Kunwar, among others, spoke on the bird flu victim farmers and responsibility of the government.
The programme was chaired by Chairman of the organisation, Lok Krishna Bhattarai.
